Gautam Gambhir & Phogat Sisters of Dangal Fame Stole The Show at Ramjas College

The Ramjas College is in it’s celebration mode of completing 100 years and now here comes another mega event put forward by NSS unit and Sports department of the college which was a culmination of the cultural and sports event making the two days even more happening.

The event kicked off with the welcoming of the dignified guests which were none other than the ace cricketer “Mr. GAUTAM GAMBHIR”  and the DANGAL sisters  “GEETA PHOGAT” and “ BABITA PHOGAT”. Three of them have done wonders in their respective field and to honor their talents three of them were presented with momentos and portraits as a token of appreciation.

IMG_3577 IMG_3833After honouring the guest the Principal, Dr. Rajendra Prasad addressed the audience and he quoted “HISTORY OF WORLD WILL BE MADE IN ASIA AND RAMJAS HAS TO SHINE AND MAKE A MARK IN WORLD HISTORY”

Mr. Gautam Gambhir took the initiative and congratulated Ramjas on completing 100 years and appreciated its alumni like Mr. Prakash Jha ,Mr. Manoj Vajpayee etc and he mentioned that we need to clean our thoughts then only the world will progress and also he talked about respecting  the girls in the society.

Even the Dangal sisters said after watching such amazing crowd they just remembered their own college days when they used to wait for the celebrities for such long period.

Geeta Phogat with a proud expression quoted “ Dangal film real hero is here and also stated that the story is real and she requested the parents to support their kids like their father did as youth is the future of our country”.

After the respective addressing the event took to another level with the march past by NCC,NSS and Sports department students in order to pay respect to the guests,faculty and audience present there. The students performed it with full strength and courage.

The march-past was followed by the aerobics where the youngsters along with the teachers performed with full zeal and energy, their never giving up attitude stole the heart of audience, to add more to it the little gymnasts from a school presented the gymnastics in a very graceful manner they looked like those little dolls which huge flexibility and left the audience stunned. Also the performance by the body builders of Ramjas College deserved huge round of applause show casing their talents in the shivering cold holds great courage and respect.

The mega event also comprised of cultural dance events representing the tradition and simplicity of India’s culture. Starting from beautiful Khatakali followed by graceful Ladakhi dance and a perfect ending with bhangra. All of it just blown off the minds. Various inter- college sports were also held that marked the ending of the first day.

The second day was even more exciting and thrilling , the chief guest was truly an inspiration for others ,  a Delhi University student , the first blind athlete to participate at  Paralympics and won two bronze and a silver in Asian Para Games in 2014, none other than  “ Mr ANKUR DHAMA ”

In his interview he quoted that he felt very excited by being a part of celebration and it is a matter of honour for him to be called as a chief guest even though he himself is a student and said he has just come to inspire others.

Ankur Dhama told that in the Paralympics this year his guide runner was being pushed by the Turkish runner but he did not lose hope instead felt an achievement by being the first athlete to participate in it. He also said that your weakness can be converted into strength by putting 100% effort and by ignoring the negative energy around you.

He also insisted that academics are equally important along with sports as it provides mental strength and which helps in sports.

The second day event started with the welcoming of the chief guest and he was presented with the momento and portrait by the vice Principal Dr. Nalini Nigam.

After the speech of the chief guest the series of cultural events started by the solo performance followed by the dance on a patriotic song ,also there was a dance on mash up of bollywood songs where the NSS coordinator  Dr. Suruchi and then the beautiful song presented by another coordinator Dr. Pramila as she played the piano on it.

The ceremony continued with the awesome skit by the NSS students which displayed the entire journey of Ramjas with the perfect narrations and superb coordination .

IMG_6322The most awaited moment was the ethnic fashion show put up by the NSS volunteers the pretty girls with the handsome boys presented the states in a very beautiful attire combined with the graceful walk like the professional models the audience was spell bound and could not stop hooting and clapping. It was probably the best part of the show.

Student coordinator Ms. Simran Walia,a third year student of Life Sciences said “This was the experience which I will cherish throughout my life these two days gave me so many life lessons, coordinating such a big event was tough but still I was able to manage with the efforts of my team,I am really proud of them.”

Rajan Singh Rajput another student coordinator said “It gave  me immense pleasure to work with such a brilliant team and organizing such a big and successful event.It was tough but also it was a life-long experience. I stayed in college till late night working with my team and faculty so that we could turn this mega event into a history and I proudly say we did it,we created the history and I would like to thank everyone who made it a success” .
