Cricket : A term which can influence the masses in our country and is no less than a virtual religion. India, is not just a cricket loving country, but indeed a cricket worshipping country. With millions of fanatics spread across all the four corners, there’s no diminution in the pride of these fans. And as far as our Indian Cricket Team is concerned, they’ve had an unforgettable 2017. Led ably by the sizzling ‘Virat Kohli’, the team has shaken the record books and have been on a winning spree.
Individual records, too have been shattered. They’ve beaten some of the top teams around the globe. And it has been nothing short of a fairytale season. But, there’s one thing that shouldn’t really skip our minds. The fact that most of the wins this year, were on home soil. India have looked unbeatable on their home turf. The passionate fans have given them a reason to cheer about. But the question is, does it reflect the true picture? Is this team the best in the world?
The answer is,Maybe or Maybe not.Because we don’t know yet. This team, to be actually called the “Best”, needs to move beyond its homeland and prove its mettle on foreign soil. India doesn’t have a great away record. But, the current team is pretty much balanced in all the departments and holds the potential and requisite experience and skills to overcome the challenges on away tours.
The next 18 months are gonna be the defining phase. With upcoming tours of South Africa, England and Australia, the task is as challenging as it gets. But, the current lot of players, have followed the footsteps of their Captain – Kohli. He’s been an inspiration on the field and has led firmly from the friend. Not only this, he has set some serious fitness goals for all his colleagues and has created a propagating dressing room environment, where each individual is determined enough to express himself and embrace challenges.
Whether this team succeeds around the globe or not, time will tell. But, if experts are to be believed, the current team can be rated as one of the best India has ever produced. With a perfect blend of experience and fitness, there’s no better time to do this than now.
And as a Cricket fan,it simply cannot get more exciting than this.
