On Saturday, the Delhi Government ordered almost 21 restaurants to be shut down in Hauz Khas Village as they did not have the proper approvals under environmental laws. The power and electric supply is also cut off.
The committee had spotted various violations and the restaurants were given a warning, yet they did not take it seriously. In the month start, when a fire safety check was made in the HKV area, hardly some of the restaurants and clubs passed the test.
The reports of Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service, SDMC and the Delhi Jal Board illustrate that the Hauz Khas Village is a ticking time bomb without essential civic and emergency services,” the Delhi HC had said.
Welcome Point, Wai Wai City, ELF Cafe and Lounge, Bulldogs, Speedy Chef, New York Slice, Chaayos, Cafe High5, Capsule by pink room, Levels, Play at the rate 30, Darjeeling Kitchen, Food Factory, The Big Burrp Theory, Bombay Velvet, Ali baba caves, Wow Momos, Village Balcony, Rehab Gastro, The Frat House, are the 21 restaurants and bars that have been closed down for now.
A peaceful protest against this shut down was also held on Saturday night where the staff held the banners stating “Save HKV”, “Save our jobs” etc.¬† Almost 700 people lost their jobs due to this sudden closure. Lets see what the next step will be.
