I clearly remember filling my form for Delhi University last year.As I clicked upon BA (Prog) to add on to my list of courses there was an oblique option for BA (Vocational) about which I had no prior knowledge about.
Now before I start onto what exactly the course is all about I would like to clear one thing that BA (Vocational Studies) is a 3 year degree course and is not to be confused with the other short term vocational courses offered in a few colleges at Delhi University.
Colleges:
BA (VS) is only and only offered at College of Vocational Studies.College of Vocational Studies offers a variety of courses from which students can take a wise decision depending upon their interest and future goals.
List of courses:
Human Resource Management
Marketing Management and Retail Business
Tourism
Office Management and Secretarial Practice
Management and Marketing of Insurance
Small and Medium Enterprise
Material Management
Eligibility:
No entrance tests are conducted for these courses and admissions are purely on the basis of merit that is your Class 12th result. One has to simply fill the general form and take admission according to the cutoffs released.
Career opportunities:
This course is not very popular as not many aspiring students are aware about it but one should defiantly consider the 7 courses offered and see if anything suits their interest.
A vocational degree gives you an edge from other students who have a generalized degree as these courses give a slight specialization in one field making it more easier to be recruited or even if you plan to go for a masters program ahead.
