An RTI filed by one of the teachers of Delhi University revealed that an estimate of 60 lacs were spent by college authorities on the app mainly used for marking attendance.
The RTI filed by Monica Misra,Former member of the Academic Council and Zoology teacher of the same college Acharya Narendra Dev College revealed that Rs 59,97,568 were spent on the purchase of the software from 2014 till September 2017 on the software Entrance Resource Planning (ERP) which was purchased through MoU with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
ERP faced resistance from the teachers of the same college. Monica Misra said, “We are not even sure why the ERP is because it was installed without any discussion with the stakeholders. It is supposed to be used for more than attendance like forming timetables but nothing is happening and is only functional at the library but the accounts and administration department are not using it.” On the other hand,College principal Savithri Singh said that she has no estimate of the cost as it happened over the period of three years but the amount is not exorbitant considering the number of students in the college. She also said that the app does much more than marking attendance.
The RTI states that Rs 9,61,400 was spent on the ERP in 2014-15, 14,42,100 in 2015-16 and same in the next year plus 10,08,100 till September 2017 which also includes the salary of Rs.6,44,000 and one time deployment fee of Rs 4,26,968 to the transformation manager who is not an employee of the college.
