Delhi University’s Teachers Association (DUTA) organised a protest march on 17th of January against the Union Government and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).Thousands of teachers gathered to demand regularisation of ad-hoc teachers.
The march started from Ramlila Maidan outside Zakir Hussain College around 11 AM to Parliament Street.At Jantar Mantar, however, the police used lathe charge to curb the protest and later detained protesters.,several teachers were injured in the process.The protest ended outside Parliament Street Police Station.
The University has over 4,500 ad-hoc teachers who have been working for years without any job security. They have demanded immediate absorption and the same benefits given to them as given to permanent teachers.
