Yes, you heard it right and this time it’s not a high sounding promise by our Chief Minister rather it is a statement by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The DMRC is a 50:50 joint venture between the Centre and the Delhi Government. Currently, no discount on fares is offered for any category ridership on the Delhi metro.
Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri claimed that the central government will soon announce such concession as a technology- based solution has been found to implement the same. He further said that the relief of low fare can be extended to passengers of the other categories based on the need.
If implemented it could be a news of relief for students who are daily commuters and are not financially independent yet.
