The match began with England in the lead when Luke Shaw scored a goal as early as in the 2nd minute of the match. This was the quickest ever goal in a Euro final. Italy countered with a goal in the 67th minute which Leonardo Bonucci scored. For the remainder of the match, the score remained the same in the Euro Cup 2020 final.

In the penalty shootout, England lost nerve to the anxiety as three of their top players- Rashford, Saka and Sancho all missed their penalty shots. On the other side, Italy’s two shots by Belotti and Jorginho were saved by England goalie Pickford. While Italy missed the last penalty shot so did England, leading Italy to their second Euro triumph.
