A candidate of entrance exam for MA Political Science allegedly found a student clicking pictures of the question paper inside the Examination Hall in front of the invigilators 10 minutes before the exam was scheduled to begin.

Happened so,that Aggarwal (name changed on request) was at Hindu College to appear for his entrance exam of Masters in Political Science. The exam was scheduled to begin at 8 AM. Aggarwal reached room number 29 at 7.25 AM. At 7.50 AM,the OMR sheets were distributed and Aggarwal, like other candidates, was filling in his details when he noticed that a boy was clicking pictures of the question paper on the adjacent bench. The boy exchanged some murmurs with the invigilator who repeatedly said-” Jaldi kar, bas kar hogaya” (Be quick, it’s almost done). Aggarwal was shocked to see the entire episode. He raised his voice and the boy ran away in an instant. He immediately asked the invigilator so as to who the boy was and why he was clicking pictures to which the invigilator replied-“Mujhe kya pata wo kaun tha” (I don’t know who he was),despite the fact that students were admitted to the exam room only after their admit cards were checked and no mobile phones were allowed inside the hall according to university guidelines.

According to Aggarwal, the guy had clicked pictures of about 35 questions out of 100.He was furious and wanted to meet the Head of Examination Department but he wasn’t allowed to leave the exam room without finishing the exam. The exam ended at 10 AM and Aggarwal rushed to meet the examination head but instead could only meet the Librarian who also happened to be the Deputy Superintendent of Exam Dept- Mr. Sanjeev Dutt Sharma, who asked him to write a complaint. Aggarwal kept a photocopy of the complaint with himself and submitted the original to Mr. Sanjeev but wasn’t given any formal receipt or authentication for the complaint. He wasn’t even told the Name of the invigilator even after asking for it repeatedly. He wasn’t allowed to meet the Principal of the college but was told by the librarian that the principal has ordered the invigilator concerned to be blacklisted yet no formal action was taken.

Aggarwal has sent a copy of the complaint to the Vice Chancellor and to many other officials. The student posted various videos on facebook on the day of examination in which he has mentioned what all happened and how the response of authorities was at Hindu College.

The allegations are quite shocking and serious.Rumors of entrance exam paper leaks are nothing new but this is the first time that someone has come out like this and has raised his voice against the wrongdoings of some officials.Thousands of aspirants prepare for a few hundred seats available in various Masters courses. If paper is being leaked like this then it raises a big question mark on the whole entrance process and also questions the integrity of university.

Hindu College needs to answer Who the student was? The statement that they don’t know who he was raises a question on how they were performing their duty.Entry to examination hall is allowed only after showing your admit card.It is clearly mentioned on admit card that mobile phones aren’t allowed inside the examination hall so how is it possible that Hindu College allowed a student with his mobile phone into the examination hall and even allowed him to click pictures of the question paper. It is no surprise that the invigilators were a party to all this because they were asking the student to click pictures fast and leave the hall.

Delhi University being one of the reputed institutions of the country needs to order an enquiry into this matter and book people involved.Students on social media have been demanding a re test as well.

The complainant Aggarwal is willing to come out in the open and make a statement in the public whenever required.

We at DU Express will keep you posted about the latest developments on this issue.
