Big B Honoured With Dadasaheb Phalke Award

President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday evening honoured Amitabh Bachchan with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in New Delhi for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.

The news of Bachchan receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award was announced by Union Minister, Prakash Javadekar on his Twitter account saying, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for 2 generations has been selected unanimously for Dadasahab Phalke Award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest Congratulations to him.”

Son Abhishek Bachchan and wife Jaya Bachchan accompanied the legend to receive India’s highest film honour.

In fact, Bachchan has also received four National Film Awards for his best acting skills, last winning it for the movie “Piku” which was released in 2015.

After receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award Bachchan said, “Jab iss puruskar ki ghoshna hui to mere mann mein ek sandeh utha. Ki kya kahin ye sanket hai mere liye ki bhai sahab aapne bahut kaam kar liya, ab ghar baith ke aaram kar lijiye. Kyunki abhi bhi thoda kaam baki hai jise mujhe poora karna hai.”

Amitabh Bachchan a.k.a., Big B of Bollywood an Indian film actor, producer, television host, playback singer and former politician. He first gained popularity in the early 1970s for films such as Zanjeer, Deewaar and Sholay. After this, he was dubbed as India’s “angry young man” for his on-screen roles in Bollywood. He is often referred to as the “Shahenshah” of Bollywood, “Sadi ka Mahanayak” and “Star of the Millennium”. Till date, he has appeared in over 190 Indian films.
