Veteran actor,Jeetendra has been booked in a sexual assault case by Shimla Police.The complaint was lodged by his cousin in February this year through an email.
DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT
The incident is said to have taken place 47 years ago in January 1971.The actor was 28 years old at that time and the complainant was 18.
The woman said that Jeetendra,without informing her,took her father’s permission to take her to visit his film’s set.She said that the actor had “arranged” for her to join him for a film shooting from New Delhi to Shimla.He later assaulted her in an inebriated state in a hotel room.
The 75-year-old actor denies any such incident taking place.
The Police received a two page written complaint by the woman after the email. Her statement was recorded through video conferencing.
Superintendent of Police,Omapati Jamwal,said that a case has been registered under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC and investigations are underway.
Jeetendra’s lawyer,Rizwan Siddiquee rubbished the allegations as “baseless and ridiculous”.He also said the charges cannot be entertained by any court of law or law enforcement agencies after a span of almost 50 years.
