In his first press conference in Lucknow he said “Corruption,poor law and order has harmed the state.Our government will work for the betterment of the people.It will work for all sections of society without any partiality and this administration will be made accountable and answerable.We will fulfill all the promises we have made to the people of the state.”
Some major decisions he took soon after becoming the Chief Minister :
1. Anti Romeo Squad will keep a check on eve teasing cases and necessary actions will be taken.
2. Over 100 policemen suspended.Suspensions were majorly in Ghaziabad,Meerut and Noida.In Lucknow,seven inspectors have been suspended.
3. Sealed illegal slaughterhouses and several meat shops that were illegally doing their business.
4. No tobacco and Pan Masala in government offices in Uttar Pradesh.
5. No CM will use red beacon on top of their vehicles.
6. To end all crimes in next 15 days he orders to make a strategy.
7. Post on social media which poses a threat to peace and harmony,action would be taken.
8. He asked all the minister to disclose their net worth on the first day itself.
Captain Amarinder Singh took charge as the new Chief Minister of Punjab.Captain got the best birthday gift as he became CM on his 75th birthday.
He started working towards the agenda of his party and promised to fulfill all the decisions made in the Congress manifesto.
Captain said “Psychiatrists needed to tackle drug menace.Two issues require major attention one is health other is education.”
Two days after taking over the reins of power in Punjab,Captain started working on his promises.
The key decisions taken by the cabinet shows Captain has a vision for Punjab.
1. End of VIP culture.No red beacons for vehicles of CM/Ministers/MLAs/bureaucrats.
2. Number of liquor shops reduced by 484.Wholesale alcohol quota to be reduced.
3. New and strong lokpal bill to be introduced soon.
4. A special taskforce under an officer of the rank of ADG formed to wipe off drug mafia from Punjab.
5.¬†A committee formed on the issue of farmer’s loan waiver.Report to be submitted within a week.
6.¬†No foundation stones/inaugurations by CM and his minister.Big projects of the tune of 100 crores or more will also not have any named mention.Just a single line “This project is from your own money”¬†to be mentioned.
7.¬†CM,Ministers and all MLA’s to declare their assets and earnings on an annual basis.
Both the newly elected Chief Minister’s have brought in a number of worth applauding decisions.Lets hope the new heroes of both the states will keep up the good work and the change elected by people of their respective states will result in something positive.
