The Indian Government has continuously been in action since this pandemic has started to show its worst side- be it through apps, social media, mass media- they have made efforts to provide us with information about COVID-19.  In the latest move to map the spread of COVID-19, the government of India has decided to conduct a telephonic survey.

The government on Tuesday declared that it will phone every citizen in the nation to amass feedback on the pervasive virus to check the dissemination of symptoms of coronavirus. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that the phone call will be made from the number 1921 cautioning against fake calls or pranksters calling from a different number on the pretext of a similar survey.

The notification issued by the government clearly mentions that the survey will be conducted by NIC. MoHFW also motivates people to “participate ingood measure when a call comes in from 1921 to enable proper feedback on prevalence and distribution of COVID symptoms.”

The central government has requested the State governments and Union territories to inform people through social media of the genuineness of the survey as to make them aware of active participation. States should also emphasize on the point that such exercise conducted by unofficial sources could be a phishing attempt.
