Delhi University Establishes Delhi School of Public Health

Recently, Delhi University got the tag of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India to help the University in the expansion of its activities through increased funding and plans of expansion.  It has helped Universities to explore in the research domain and introduce new courses.

Considering that, the Delhi University has launched Delhi School of Public Health under the Institute of Eminence Scheme.  Under the same scheme, the University has also started an initiative ‘Research without Barriers’ to expand the research network and provide all necessary facilities to the students and broaden the programs related to research.

The Delhi School of Public Health (DSPH) has been started with the goal to create an A grade organization for education, research, and teaching in Public Health where researchers from various domains would be welcomed including medicine, biomedical sciences, and social sciences.  This institute will be headed by Professor RNK Bamezai, an acclaimed public health expert, Padma Shri awardee and former vice-chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

An advisory council has also been set up for DSPH which consists of professionals from various fields that will help and plan the formation and later function and activities of the organization. This advisory council is to be headed by the President of Public Health Foundation India Srinath Reddy who is also the former head of the Department of Cardiology in AIIMS, New Delhi.
