Delhi University Sets Up a School For Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development

The University of Delhi has established the school of Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (DSSEED) to promote teaching excellence in areas of skill enhancements and entrepreneurship development.

The Ministry of Human Resource, Government of India has permitted the special status of Institution of Eminence to the University of Delhi. Governing Council of the Institution of Eminence (IoE) and the Executive council of the University will supervise the newly established school.

An innovator and biochemist, Professor Vijay K Chaudhary will be heading the flagship institute. It will also be guided by an advisory council comprising eminent scientists and innovation facilitators under the Chairmanship of Professor NK Ganguly, Former Director-General, ICMR.

Moreover, the school will comprise of faculties from Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Commerce and Economics, Finance and Management to address and meet the immediate and ever-evolving upcoming challenges in an integrated fashion and contribute to the national development.

According to the University of Delhi, “The school will also have an incubator facility that will facilitate incubation of ideas and start-ups by providing the infrastructure and utilities. Besides, incubates will seek benefit from the vast experience and expertise of the University faculty in the form of mentorship and discussions. Industry linkages will enhance the incubator experience with inputs on entrepreneurship from success stories.”

“The overarching aim of DSSEED is to bridge the gap in the current knowledge delivery in any institution by initiating training programs of interdisciplinary nature,” read the official statement.

The varsity has established the institute to provide the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem to students and entrepreneurs to fulfil the commitment by the government of making India self-reliant (Atma-Nirbhar). The statement further read, “The need for such an institution is in line with Government of India’s vision to enhance the incubation of new ideas, start-ups and entrepreneurship. The DSSEED will employ innovative mechanisms in an integrated manner to shape young minds to meet the global needs and fulfil the dream of ‘Make in India, Made for World’.”
