Adjusting in a new city is not easy. You might feel lost in the beginning. However, there is no need to worry. Everything will get fine with time. Here are a few tips which you must keep in mind.
DO SPEAK OUT
Always feel confident and bold enough to speak what you feel and think. Do not get under any kind of pressure because the high cut offs prove that your caliber is no joke. College is a place to develop your inner potential. So, you should take full efforts to do the same.
DON’T TRUST PEOPLE EASILY
It is important to understand the difference between a person who is a friend and one who is not. It is not particularly about Delhi, but everywhere in your life, you should be vigilant enough to identify the trustworthy ones in your life. Moreover, it is also important not to get manipulated by people around you.
KEEP A COUNT OF ALL YOUR RESOURCES
It is a smart act to keep the contact details of your known ones in Delhi handy. You are all alone in this new city. So, it is very important to be aware of even dur ka chacha here. Be it a relative, an old school friend, any classmate, batchmate, senior, every single dilliwala is important.
DEVELOP YOURSELF IN AND OUT
The first year is linient enough to take risks and do experiments with your academics. So, not only run for internships and societies but also give space to yourself to take decisions independently. Now, you are out of that papa-mumma shell and the sun rays, the rain drops and the storm, everything is going to come on you. Being away from family gets you freedom and freedom comes with responsibilities.
SET YOUR OWN DEFINITION OF COOLNESS
Do not become a follower. Be a trend setter. Two different people have different personalities. So, it is fine to be different from others, to have different pleasurable acitivites, different goals. And finally it is also fine to have different range of pocket money. Neither dominate nor get dominated.
DO NOT JUDGE PEOPLE AROUND YOU
It is as important to be non judgemental as it is to not care about being judged. It is good to be confident but save yourself from turning into an over-confident spoiler. Every DU student is a human of his/her own caliber. Also, you might actually turn out to be best friends with someone you hated in the first year at the end.
