Every hour that you have spent in Sports ans ECA during your school curriculum will pay you off, as there is a special quota in DU for such activities. Every college in DU reserves 5% seats for sports and extracurricular activities(ECA).

The university has 36 sports disciplines and students who are good at sports can apply through this category. This year the admission committee is planning to give 60% weightage to trial and 40% to certificates instead of giving equal weightage to both.

Before trials an applicant has to undergo a fitness test and he must get minimum 30 marks in the trials to get admission under this quota. However direct admission is given to the students who have represented the country in international events. Like last year sports trials will be conducted at respective colleges and one sports trial will be held at one college.

The university had 865 seats under this category last year and now the number is expected to rise up to 1000. Even to grab an ECA seat the students have to face trials. “The preliminary trials will tentatively start around June 17 and will last till June 26. Students will then be selected for final round which will be held between June 30 and July 6, said Shalini -head of ECA admissions. In online registration process, a student has to upload only one certificate which illustrates his talent in the best manner from the last three years. This certificate will also act as a proof of his participation. Later all the certificates will be verified in final rounds.

However, the procedure is little different for NSS students as       they cannot take part in trials. To qualify for an NSS seat the       students are required to submit a certificate issued by their         state government that they have completed 120 hours of their     training. Then they go through a question and answer round ,     like an interview instead of trials Shalini further added.
