According to a senior official at Delhi University, this year no admissions will be conducted under the ECA quota.

A meeting of the university’s standing committee on admission was held recently and it was unanimously decided that due to the current situation of COVID-19, it will not be possible to conduct trials for ECA, thus these have to be scrapped completely. But this will not apply for the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) admissions for which selection is based on certificates.

An alternative for ECA admission using online mode was considered but then there is a high chance of glitches. If a pre-recorded video is asked for, it could be unfair. On the other hand, admissions from sports quota will be done on the basis of certificates and not trials.

The tentative date for the registrations to begin is 20th June as of now, which will go on up to July 4. The entire process will is online except the final document verification which will be done in person. The dates for cut-offs will depend on the exams which are yet to be conducted and their results. Some other changes have also been made including not penalizing candidates for discrepancies on the caste certificate.
