DU Admissions 2020: Over 48,000 Students apply on Day 2 of Second Cut Off

According to the Hindustan Times, more than 48,000 students applied on the second day after the second cut off for admission to undergraduate courses in DU was released.

According to a senior University official, a total of 4,882 students applied on the second day.

The second cut off saw admissions to many courses being closed and other courses showing only a minor reduction in percentage required for admission.

Lady Shri Ram College For Women, which earlier had a 100% per cent cut off for BA (Honours) Economics, BA (Honours) Psychology, BA (Honours) Political Science, now requires aspirants to have scored at least 99 per cent (for B.A (Hons) Economics) 99.75 per cent (for honours in Psychology and Political Science).

Seats to courses like BA (Honours) History are already filled in colleges like Bharati College, DCAC, BR Ambedkar, Hansraj, Hindu, IP College for Women, Kamala Nehru, Kirori Mal, Laxmibai, Maitreyi, Motilal Nehru and Rajdhani College.

Colleges like Lady Shri Ram College, Miranda House and Ramjas College are still offering the course at 99 per cent, 98.5 per cent and 97.5 per cent respectively. Shri Ram College of Commerce is offering BA (Honours) Economics and B Com (Honours) at 99 per cent and 98.50 per cent respectively. Hindu College is offering BA (Honours) Philosophy at a required percentage of 97 per cent.

The admissions under the second list commenced on Monday, October 19 and ended on October 21st. Almost 50% of the 70,000 undergraduate seats have already been filled in the first cut off. The admission process is being held online due to the coronavirus pandemic this year.
