DU Famous Alumni : Top Five Bollywood Stars

University of Delhi is known for producing many celebrities especially famous Bollywood stars. This article talks about the five bollywood stars who graduated from Delhi University and made their mark in Bollywood.

1. Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan is an Indian film actor, producer, TV host and an occasional singer. He became a famous Bollywood star with the release of his films like “Zanjeer”, “Sholay” and “Deewaar” in the early 1970s. Amitabh Bachchan is popularly known as the “Shahenshah of Bollywood” or “Big B”. Till date, he has done 190 Indian films. Amitabh Bachchan has also received many national as well as international awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. He is an alumnus of Kirori Mal College.

2. Shahrukh Khan 

Shahrukh Khan is known as the “Badshah of Bollywood”. Shahrukh Khan is a graduate from Hansraj College with a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Economics. At the same time, he also spent most of his time in Delhi’s Theatre Action Group, where he studied acting under Barry John, theatre director. Khan also attended the National School of Drama and hence, because of his determination and hardwork he one of the popupar actor in Bollywood. In fact, Shahrukh Khan has been awarded with many national and international awards including Padma Shri.

3. Manoj Bajpai

Manoj Bajpai, is an Indian film actor who has been awarded two National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards. In 2019, he was awarded India’s fourth highest civilian honor Padma Shri for his contributions to the profession.He pursued his graduation at Satyawati College & Ramjas College of Delhi University.

4. Neha Dhupia 

Neha Dhupia is an Indian Bollywood actress. She was in top 10 in Miss Universe competition in the year 2002. Neha Dhupia made her Bollywood debut in “Qayamat” and has received many national awards including the Filmfare award. She is a graduate from Jesus and Mary College with a Bachelors (Honours) degree in History. Currently, she is one of the team leaders in the popular reality show, “Roadies” on MTV channel.

5. Sidharth Malhotra 

Sidharth Malhotra is an Indian Bollywood actor who made his debut in 2012 in Karan Johar’s movie, “Student of the Year”. Being a Delhiite, he is a graduate from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. Sidharth Malhotra was a model at the age of 18 but soon gave up because he was dissatisfied with what he was doing. And hence, he chose to work as an assistant director to Karan Johar in 2010 for “My Name is Khan.” Sidharth Malhotra has won many national awards and at the same time, has been awarded with many honours. One of them being, “Times of India’s Most Desirable Men in 2013.”
