DU Plans To Make North Campus ‘Closed’ Like JNU

The Vice Chancellor of Delhi university on Saturday informed the  Executive Committee meeting that soon the Delhi University’s North Campus will be converted into a closed area like Jawaharlal Nehru university (JNU) campus, the process might take a year.

He also said that North Campus would be converted into a closed area like JNU to preserve its identity and culture. “The closed campus will also help the authorities improve the security” said EC member Rajesh Jha. However, despite the demands of the University officials the EC members did not pass on the proposal of the DU getting the IoE tag (Institute of Eminence).

“We have not received any official document from DU regarding this and if the proposal to the MHRD for DU to get the IoE tag was made for personal interest or for the Universities betterment” said EC member Jl Gupta.

The EC members also stated that there was disagreement among the faculty staff for this decision since teachers are not in favour of starting any new courses which are beyond the control of University.

The EC also ordered to stop the construction of the 39 storey building near Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station.
