The executive council which is the varsity’s highest decision making body gave nod to the opening of two new law centers, one in Dwarka and Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi.
The new campus at Sector 22,Dwarka was given the nod by the financial committee with an allocation of Rs 60.36 crore.
It looks as Dwarka is set to become a hub for budding lawyers. It already houses the University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and National Law University, Delhi.
Other proposals which were approved included a new academic building at the law faculty complex and a new girls’ hostel at Mukherjee Nagar. The creation of new post for North Campus director was postponed after EC members opposed it.
Also on the agenda was the renovation of the kitchen in vice chancellor’s residence for a whopping Rs 30 million. It is not clear if it was approved or not as members opposed it and demanded to use it for physics and chemistry labs.
