On 23rd October, 2019, four law students of Delhi University were allegedly beaten up by bouncers at a bar in Mukherjee Nagar and sustained injuries. The DCP of North West Delhi, Vijayanta Arya told that an FIR has been lodged against the bouncers and it is the same bar against which an FIR was filed weeks ago for serving hookah.
According to police, the FIR has been lodged by a second year student who went to the bar to celebrate his birthday with his friends, where they requested the DJ to change the song and at his refusal an argument took place. The bouncers intervened the argument and started beating the students claiming that they are misbehaving.
In protest, almost 200 students came out on roads near the Kingsway Camp and the Police assured that prompt action will be taken. Former DUSU President Shakti Singh also said that Police has not been cooperating with them and protecting the accused. Not just this, an FIR has also been filed against the bar’s owner for not conducting a verification of the bar employees including the bouncers.
