Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath gave assurance to the Delhi University Student Union President, Shakti Singh, of constructing hostels for students who hail from Uttar Pradesh and studying in Delhi University.
“The UP government is likely to send a proposal to DU to construct these hostels on UP government’s land in the national capital” said Shakti Singh, the DUSU President.
Shakti Singh met Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to brief about the issue of shortage of hostel seats for students in Delhi University. He also gave a proposal for consideration to build 1,000 hostel seats for the outstation students which will require three acres of land.
“I have closely seen the difficulties of students of our state studying in DU. I strongly propose and humbly request CM Yogi to kindly consider the construction of a hostel for undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students of UP in Delhi or in Noida. The demands were well received by the CM and assurance was extended to the effect that the land titled under UP government will be utilised for construction of hostels and further directed the university administration to come up with a proposal.” said Shakti Singh, President, Delhi University Students Union.
“Demand for hostels has always been one of the core agendas of ABVP. Acceptance and recognition of this proposal by the UP government has raised hopes for better and affordable stay among outstation students and it is a victory in itself. DUSU is expectant of this proposal taking shape at the earliest once the necessary formalities have been met with,” he added.
