The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) claimed that police was called by the university to prevent them from campaigning, as to gather support for boycott. Even two professors have begun a sit-in outside the vice-chancellor’s office.

The reason of protest is for the new faculty reservation mechanism in universities and also a host of other issues which has taken place for a month now.

Two elected members of the Executive Council have started a sit-in outside the VC’s office namely,  Dr. Rajesh Jha and Dr. A. K. Bhagi, demanding DUTA meet shortly.

DU administration’s act was titled as “cowardly act” by the teachers’ body for calling the police to prevent DUTA teams, campaigning at evaluation centres.

They alleged that college principals and the DU Examination Branch have been forcing ad-hoc and guest teachers to report for evaluation.

DUTA alleged that - Instead of having dialogue to resolve the crisis, the DU VC has resorted to tactics of intimidation and coercion against the most vulnerable sections of the teaching community.
