Every school student waits eagerly for his college life to begin, mainly because it has new opportunities and experiences to offer. The first year is the most crucial for them not only because it marks the beginning of a new phase in their lives, but also because they get an insight about the things which will follow up in the coming years and thus, they start getting accustomed to the new environment accordingly.

Some of the few things which make the freshman year the most enjoyable are-

YOU MAKE NEW FRIENDS

The initial days of college are very awkward indeed. Freshers are hesitant to talk to each other but as time passes by, new bonds and friendships start developing and freshers start getting comfortable with each other. Socializing is important as it helps you to find people with common interests.

YOU EXPLORE NEW PLACES

Freshers start to hang out with their friends more often by visiting eateries, shops, malls, parks, and going to movies together, etc. By the end of first year, they become expert reviewers about various things and obviously compulsive shopaholics as well who even start guiding others about where to go and where not to go.

YOU GET AN IDEA OF THE COLLEGE CURRICULUM

Academics are as important as other activities in college. Freshers get to know about the syllabus, teachers, question paper layout, books and other study resources related to their course from their faculty as well as seniors who guide them throughout their college journey.

YOU DEVELOP NEW SKILLS

As freshers start exploring the world on their own for the first time, they learn to inculcate useful and practical skills in themselves, such as how to bargain with auto drivers, ask for directions from strangers, travel alone without fear, etc which helps them in becoming independent.

YOU PARTICIPATE IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

College societies attract the attention of freshers the moment they enter into college premises. Freshers are eager to join them as they want to follow their passion and hone their abilities by exhibiting their talent to the world. It also helps to keep their mind engaged into something fruitful.

YOU START ADJUSTING AMONG NEW SURROUNDINGS

College is a place full of diversity where freshers encounter students from different backgrounds and cultures. First year helps them to understand their peers properly and they learn to adapt to the new college framework with time and ease.

Thus, freshers should make the most out of their first year in college and learn to take risks by confronting new challenges and exploring new things.
