In any case, demonetisation was a bold step.I have to remind you that suicide too is a bold step.

In an interview with NDTV, he has strongly criticized the government’s decision to ban the INR 500 and 1000 notes saying that the stated objective may be good but the idea was not well thought out. He also called the Modi Government as “ government of two-and-a-half persons” that is Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and one in-house lawyer.

‚ÄúWhich argument (offered by the government in favour of demonetisation) today survives? Black Money? All of it turned white. Terrorism? Terrorists are still coming into India. GDP has collapsed to 3.7 per cent according to the old series. The industrial production has gone down from about 9 per cent in 2015-16 to about 1.7 per cent in April to July. Is it not a matter of concern?” Shourie said.

“You are doing nothing on the Vyapam Scam, you are doing nothing on the Sarada Scam,¬† the Narada Scam, you let Hasan Ali go, nothing happened, Moin Qureshi goes away, Vijay Mallya is saying bye bye, Lalit Modi keeps sitting outside and at the end you have nothing to say”¬†he further added.

He said that the government’s policies must have predictability, stability and credibility- all of which is totally absent now.The investors and the industry are not sure of their expectations from the government,be it demonetisation or GST implementation.
