Gargi College’s Alohomora’16 Was A Huge Success

Gargi College hosted its marketing event ‚ÄòAlohomora‚Äô16‚Äô. The event was put forth brilliantly by the efforts of the students of commerce,economics and mathematics departments.This year Gargi also celebrates its 50th year.The event commenced with the Principal Dr. Shashi Tyagi addressing the gathering,followed by the felicitation of the panelists.The dignitaries included Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary,Editor and Channel Head of Zee News,Mr. Dilip Cherion, India‚Äôs IMAGE Guru,Mr. Praveen Jaipuriar,Marketing Head Dabur Ltd,Padma Shri Pushpesh Pant,Indian academic and Food Critic.Mrs Vibha Paul,Director TATA Chemicals and Dr. Sushila Madan,Associate Professor at Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram Cllege For Women along with the college chairman Mr. Atul Kotra.

All panelists shared their views on “Marketing: A Paradigm Shift”. The discussion further advanced to the power of advertising.It was a wonderful panel discussion that gave the students a deeper insight into the world of marketing.

“I really liked what Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary said.His talk has inspired me”, said Bhavya Bansal, a member of the Gargi Marketing Society.

The annual newsletter ‘Alohomora’16’ was also launched by the panelists.The panel discussion was followed by the felicitation of alumnae of Gargi College who are now working as successful marketers and business analysts in top Indian companies.

Apart from the panel discussion,Gargi College hosted several events. Multiple events took place simultaneously at different venues.

Chaupal was a competition based on formulating marketing strategies for urban products in rural areas. The participants were required to solve the given case studies. Students from various colleges of Delhi University had come to participate. The event was a great success.

Freakonomics was a competition based on the concept of the popular American TV show “Shark Tank”. All the participants were expected to present their business models. After the preliminary round, the selected 12 teams made it to the day of the event. This competition was judged by Mrs. Monami, professor at Kamala Nehru College and Mr. Ganesh Manjhi, professor at Gargi College. The participating teams talked about their basic business model, distribution model, pricing and costs. The teams were judged on the basis of content, creativity, and presentation. The students came up with some extraordinary ideas.

Other events were ‘When Chandler cried’ and ‘Mathematical Rangoli’.

“I enjoyed participating in ‘when chandler cried’. I did not win but it taught me a lot,” said Suyashi Kharya, a student of B.Com at Gargi.
