Mallika Dutta,a third year Political science student from Jesus and Mary College was allegedly sexually harrassed by a man outside her college while she was walking towards her car outside her college at 3:50 PM.
The man in white car asked her for directions to India Gate while his car was still in motion.He kept staring at the girl till she realized that his pants were down and he was masturbating inside the car.
The incident took place while there was a police van parked nearby.Mallika has reported the incident to the internal complaint committee in her college who will be registering a complaint with the local police about the incident.Unfortunately she failed to note the copious details of the white car in which the man rode on.
Incidents like these continue to happen in the broad daylight even when the girls are supposed to be ‘safe’. We would request each and every person who is reading this to raise their voices and come forward with complaints to take strict and necessary action towards harassment cases like these, since these incidents will seldom cease as long as we bury such matters in the veil of ignorance and shame and prefer silence to raising our voices against these.
