Indian weddings are known for their lavish and luxurious shenanigans. Be it outfits, food, decor, everything adds vibrance to the atmosphere. It becomes all the more prominent when it comes to big fat Indian celebrity weddings. In recent years, we saw not only the most eligible bachelors of Bollywood but the rich Ambani kids tying knots and settling down with their loved ones. In a country like India, we extensively look up to celebrity weddings.  Everything ranging from the airport looks to the accessories to the wedding lehenga has to be perfect. Not to forget, what makes these weddings ‘larger than life’ is the wedding venue.

 Let’s Look at the Celebs

In these influential times, destination weddings always top the list. The weddings of popular couples like Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli and Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh in Italy remain an affair to cherish. Nevertheless, the Indian wedding venues provide a subtle taste of Indian tradition combined with a joyous flavor of royalty. A perfect example is the splendid wedding celebration of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas at the Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur which left all of us in awe. The beautiful palace embraced the stunning couple and their pictures set a mood board for everyone out there.

The Delhi based business tycoon Anand Ahuja and actress Sonam Kapoor tied the knot in Bandra, Mumbai. The couple celebrated their moment of ecstasy in a complete Indian style. Everything from outfits to decorations reflected an inheritance of the Indian culture. Not only the celebrities but the Richie-Rich, the Ambanis chose the city of dreams, Mumbai, as the venue for Isha Ambani’s and Akash Ambani’s grand big fat Indian wedding. The family celebrated all major events at the Udaipur Palace. Thus, when it comes to choosing a wedding venue, everyone wants it to be exquisite which will make the wedding truly a gala event.

 Obsession over Weddings

Now that we have a fair idea of the big fat Indian weddings, let’s analyze what drives this behavior.

The first reason is the very tradition. Since ages, people have spent their lifetime deposits at weddings. Weddings are an indispensable part of our culture. Thus comes the extravagant expenditure. People would go in a debt-trap but would leave no stone unturned to make the wedding look lavish. This is why we have an obsession with a perfect wedding venue.

Moving ahead to the second factor, it is well established that celebrity life is guided by fame and popularity. Celebrities have an image and repo which, for all-natural reasons, need to be boosted. So, to stand out of the crowd and to make a mark, it becomes imperative for the celebs to make a move which gets them more and more following and acceptance from the audience. Thus, every step a celebrity takes is guided by the ulterior motive of becoming dearer to the public.

With this, we move into the last lap i.e. how the wedding venues benefit from the star-studded weddings? On the surface, it might seem simple that the economic profit of holding such an event would be incredible. But, there is another side to the story. Such venues, in an automatic fashion, become more popular amongst the people. Such celebrity weddings, act as a kind of nudge, which drives people towards these particular venues. Over time, such venues garner popularity by weddings they hold. A very prominent example can be, “Did you see Priyanka Chopra’s wedding venue? I’d surely visit it once, the palace is just magnificent.” This means higher tourist revenue for such places. Thus, it is like a two-way trade where both parties benefit.
