Maitreyi College,as the name suggests,is an all girls college of University of Delhi founded in 1967 by Delhi administration.This college made a modest beginning at Netaji Nagar with a staff of little over seventeen teachers offering only B.A (Pass) and B.Sc (general) courses .Since then,it has made rapid progress both in size and stature.

The current campus is situated in Chanakya Puri ,spread over ten acres of land in lush green surroundings and open spaces.It offers Under Graduate courses in Arts,Science and Commerce with a distinguished faculty of 125 teachers and 93 members.It also offers Post Graduate courses in Mathematics and Political Science including Honours in Physical and Life sciences,Commerce and Humanities as well as short term certificate courses in Journalism and Web Designing.

ACTIVITIES

Apart from being awarded with star college scheme in science,it also has initiated programmes of awareness in Health & Fitness, Disaster Management and Self Defence. The college holds its annual fest named RHAPSODY in the month of January which has hosted popular performers like DJ Nucleya and Punjabi artist Guru Randhawa in the past.

This popular western dance society has bagged more than 15 positions in the well known DU fest season with the tittle of Best technique in dancing .

NRITYAKRITI-Indian Dance Society

This Indian Dance Society was voted as the Top society in DU for folk dance 2016 by DELHI COLLEGE AWARDS .

GALORE-The Fashion Society

Ranked amongst top 6 societies of Delhi University.

ABHIVYAKTI-The Dramatics Society

Voted as the second best dramatics society in DU by DELHI COLLEGE AWARDS .

Active throughout the year,the Placement Cell of Maitreyi College organises seminars and training sessions frequently along with recruitment drives,inviting companies with big names such as Ernst and Young,UrbanClap,Zomato .

The college is situated in a peaceful and high profile area of Chanakya Puri and is two minute drive away from Satya Niketan , the hub of South Campus .From QDs to BIG YELLOW DOOR,all are 10 bucks (of course you have to share) auto ride away.This place has a huge varieties of cafe`s that will not scare your wallet away .

My Experience

From the first day to now,Maitreyi has been an Alma meter worth bragging about.Having a passion for performing arts,the societies have provided a big platform to develop my skills.Even though coming from a convent co-ed school,I was dreaded to attend an all girls college,but the activities,opportunities and ambience makes it worth having no cute guys around.And the girls here unlike Jon Snow literally know everything.
