NSUI Releases Manifesto For Upcoming DUSU 2018 Elections

DUSU elections are around the corner and will be taking place on 12th September next month.

The National Students Union of India (NSUI) released its manifesto today morning for the upcoming Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections,scheduled to be held next month.NSUI promises to fight the elections on real issues faced by students instead of addressing abstractions like “national” and “anti-national”.

NSUI says it stands for Progress,Freedom,Diversity and Empowerment.After the great success of NSUI in last year’s DUSU elections alongwith ongoing fight for the basic rights of students,this year NSUI has also come up with unprecedented ideas representing different views of Delhi University students.

NSUI’s major demands include-

• Institute of Eminence status for Delhi University.
• Special Program to identify 100 young women leaders in DU, mentored by former CM of Delhi, Ms.Sheila Dixit.
• Distribution of free laptops for DU students.
• Subsidized complete meal Thali at 10 Rs.
• Concessional student pass in Delhi Metro and DTC Buses.

NSUI fights for “Institution of Eminence”-

• DU will get RS 1000 crores extra budget->~ Rs 75,000 extra per student
• DU will become world class university with international opportunites
• DU will get more faculty and improved infrastructure

NSUI fights for “Student’s rights and affordable DU”-

• Complete meal thali for Rs 10
• Reduction in fees in all colleges
• Constructions of hostels for all students on vacant land in Du
• Concessional student pass in Delhi Metro and DTC buses
• Fight for Student Rights Commission
• Increase in diet rates for sports students
• Demand distribution of free laptops

NSUI stands for “Diversity of Cultures and Ideas”-

• Celebration of all states and their special cultures
• Anniversaries of political icons

NSUI stands for “Women’s freedom and Empowerment”-

• Special program to identify 100 young women leaders in DU
• Implementation of UGC Guidelines on ICC to prevent sexual harassment of women.

NSUI stands with “Dalit and Tribal Students”-

• Fight to get pending SC/ST scholarships

NSUI “Struggle of rural students and first generation students”-

• Appointment of special resource coordinators in every college
• Provision of learning material in local language

Major Achievements of NSUI led DUSU 2017-18-

• Violence-free peaceful campus.
• Extended library for 24*7
• Installation of sanitary pad vending machine in 32 colleges, to be installed in all remaining colleges.
• Launched Delhi University first ever magazine, ‘D-Youth’.
• Fought for concessional pass for Delhi Metro and DTC Buses and became successful in Putting a Break to hike in Delhi Metro till 2020.

AICC Joint Secretary and NSUI ln-Charge Ruchi Gupta said “NSUI stands for progress, freedom, diversity and empowerment. We have worked hard last year and have reinstated peace and critical thinking in Delhi University. We are excited about 2 key programs this year: “Pehli Peedi”, wherein we will work with first generation students to support them and work with them and we will identify 100 young women leaders who will be mentored by Sheila Dikshit ji”.

‘With the slogan, “Hum Hai Behtar Bharat Ki Awaaz, Hum Hai NSUI” we have started our DUSU Campaign. NSUI has always worked in the well-being of the students.” said NSUI’s National President Fairoz Khan.
