Delhi University administration has sent out clear directives that physical visits to campus will be futile amidst the ongoing pandemic for Delhi University admission. The entire admission process has been made online keeping in mind the safety of the students. Guidelines about the admission process has been uploaded on the official Delhi University website.

Professor Shobha Bagai, the Dean of Admissions said , “We have also repeatedly announced that applicants need not visit the campus for admissions. It might be a futile visit as no official from the administration would be present at the site. All processes have gone online and the same would be followed by the colleges as well. Anyone visiting the campus would be asked to return.” (Source: Indiatvnews)

However, the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) has mentioned they would set up special provisions for those students who have ‘inferior connectivity at home.’ The students who visit the colleges will be given access to the student union’s office which is equipped with laptops and high-speed internet to aid them in the admission process. Furthermore, DUSU has also come up with a team of 500 union workers who will help DU administration in conducting the process of admission.

A question regarding the exclusionary admission process arose. Many students do not have access to proper technological devices and face unsteady internet. This same debate also arose during the OBE examinations. During the examination, students complained about having technical glitches while uploading their answer sheet. However, Shobha Bagai has said that, “There was a different issue in the examination as they had to upload their documents. In the admission process, the documents have already been uploaded by the students. Now they just have to open their dashboard and choose the colleges where they are seeking admissions. Rest of the processes would be done by the colleges.” (Source: Indiatvnews)
