On Wednesday, a series of protests expressing opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act were organised in many Delhi University colleges by the students.
At Ramjas College in North campus, a group of students read out the preamble. The organizers of the protest claimed that policemen were present inside the campus and that the college administration tried to stop their agitation.
The SFI Delhi (Student Federation of India) also tweeted regarding the incident – “Today, SFI #Ramjas Unit led a vibrant protest against violence on Students, CAA-NRC-NPR and NEP despite ABVP’s desperate attempts to disrupt the gathering and intimidate Students.”
However, the police denied the claims saying they were not present inside the campus.
An official of the college administration defended the administration by informing that the authorities have made it mandatory for everyone to take permission before organising any event in the amphitheatre. He recalled the clashes WHICH had broken out between students in 2017 and said that they do not want it to happen again.
At Zakir Husain Delhi College, the students protested against the police action in Jamia Millia Islamia that had occurred in December. At Ram Lal Anand college and Hansraj College, public meetings were held against the new legislation while girls at Jesus & Mary College and Kamala Nehru College held protests for the second time yesterday.
