Across Delhi University, guest lecturers are appointed so that they can take up the extra load of teachers. UGC in this regard has introduced new norms to be followed by the colleges, from January 2019. As per the new norms, the remuneration of these guest lecturers would be increased and every college must have a selection committee to appoint the guest faculty.

This notice has worried the colleges, and for getting amendments done, the DUTA wrote to UGC. According to the DUTA members, forming up a selection committee is of no use as then the university would not be able to centrally manage the committees of all the colleges for appointing the guest faculty even if it is for a short period of time. Also, the session has begun and the teaching-learning process has been affected because of the appointment of guest faculty.
