With Delhi HC seeking to close down the coaching centres operating in residential areas of North Delhi,a bunch of students, preparing for various competitive exams has requested HC to hear their plea, as their future is linked to the decision of the court.

In this regard students enrolled at various coaching centres in Outram Lines, Kingsway Camp and Mukherjee Nagar filed an application before a bench of acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar.

The application stated that most of the students have deposited full fees to the coaching centres and moreover their future is at risk as it will depend on their performance in the competitive exams. With the exams approaching, the closure of these centres will affect them severely.

The court has been hearing petitions by Delhi residents who have alleged that MCD had allowed over 100 coaching centres to be run illegally from residential properties and this has resulted in overcrowded areas and is also causing “grave nuisance to the residents”.¬†The petitioners also claimed that the main roads in front of the building are used as a parking space for the students and the employees of the centres which further creates a bottleneck for traffic.

The petition had persuaded the HC to look into the matter and even the court had earlier commented that people using residential properties for commercial use, have become “selfish” as they don’t care about the inconvenience they are causing to their neighbours.
