In relation to 2nd October, Ministry of Human Resource Development released the ranking under the Swachhta survey conducted by them and not a single central , state of private university from Telangana secured a place in the ranking.
A total of 3500 of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) figured in the rankings which were awarded in four categories -Universities, Colleges, Technical Institutions and Government Institutions. Officials from UGC and All India Council for Technical Education  (AICTE) inspected the premises of 174 institutions. ¬â€
The argument presented by the officials of the Telangana Institutes is that some of them did not participate in the survey and some dodgy not even know about such a survey being conducted. UGC in its defence said that it had sent a letter to all the VCs on July 20 about the survey and the time limit wad till July 30th. Institutions from Tamil Nadu secured the best rankings with 12 being in top 25. Kongu arts and Science College-Erode topped the college category, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham -Coimbatore topped in Technical institutions category and GB Pant University of Agricultural and Technology-Pantnagar topped in Government institutions category. O.P. JINDAL GLOBAL UNIVERSITY topped the Universities category followed by Manipal University -Jaipur, Chitkara University -Solan, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research and Dayalbagh Educational Institute, Agra.
The Universities which did not participate were University of Hyderabad, English and Foreign Languages Universities, Maulana Azad National Urdu University and Osmania University.
