Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, organized its third edition of an independently organized TED event virtually, TEDxJMC, on the 27th of February 2021. Technology, Entertainment and Design – TEDx reinvents these domains by organizing some of the most path-breaking events across the world. TEDxJMC 2021 commemorated the amalgamation of 10 speakers, 3 astonishing performances, and engaging activities under the theme “Focus/Unfocus”. This phenomenal experience left everyone rejuvenated with hope and inspiration, in these testing times.

Hosted by the vibrant and talented Shreyas Mendiratta, this year’s conference proved to be a success yet again. The wonderful speakers who shared their insights and inspired the audience included Ridhima Pandey, a climate change activist; Ankur Warikoo, a mentor and an entrepreneur; Suhani Jalota, founder and CEO of Myna Mahila Foundation; Ragini Tandan, singer and composer; Brinda Sharma, a travel blogger; Nikhil Taneja, co-founder, and CEO of Yuvaa; Diipa Khosla, an influencer and the co-founder of Post for Change; Akanksha Deo Sharma, a renowned designer; Dr. Prerna Kohli, a clinical psychologist, and Vikas Khanna, a Michelin Star chef. TEDxJMC had something for everyone, with the talks ranging from issues of climate change and mental health to the importance of embracing our uniqueness and taking risks. This striking set of ideas coming from some of the most insightful minds proved to be a bright ray of knowledge, exploration, and innovation for the attendees.

While the speakers expanded horizons with their talks, a range of brilliant performers enthralled all. The performers included Naman Khanna, a mentalist and magician; Birraj, an alluring pianist, and Echo, the Western Music Society of JMC, who elevated the conference to a new level.

TEDxJMC marked a conference brimming with soul-stirring energy, an enthusiastic audience, and a shared feeling of being connected, even through the laptop screens. Hopefully, next year, we will get to witness it in a physical set-up but the event brought with it the true spirit of new discoveries and fulfilling conversations even in an online form, as months of devotion and diligence of the team members towards its preparation bore fruit!
