Delhi University is known for its varied and vibrant societies. Apart from academics, these societies give a much-needed respite, as they allow room for proliferation of one’s own  interests. You can be your own muse while you decide which path to follow, as our very own university has a lot to offer.

While some societies elevate and preserve your already acquired talent, there are others which give you a glimpse of the real world. The Entrepreneurship Cell is one society which ensures carving out the hidden entrepreneur in the students eyeing a lucrative position in the corporate world.

Here are some of the Best Entrepreneurial societies to look out for in DU:

  1. E-CELL, NSIT

This society is a harbinger of various start-ups like Ecounsellors, Reach, Athithi Pleasure and  Womenite. Another glory marked its own way, when the society participated in the National Entrepreneurship Challenge, and secured third position out of 100+ E-Cells. Their flagship event E-Summit is highly successful each year.

“I am a part of E-Cell NSIT from my first year itself and I have seen it grow many folds in these two years and I am proud to be a part of this growth. The society provides many opportunities to learn. You get to work in start-ups and learn the entire process also you can explore different fields of a startup and how things are done there. Overall it has been a great journey and it has developed my personality to a great extent”, said Rishabh, Secretary of E-Cell, NSIT.

  1. E-Cell, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies

In the past year, the society has been working closely with The Indus Entrepreneurs, the world’s largest entrepreneurial network over several events, such as TiECon Delhi, Smash Up etc.¬† They launched Yuva Young Entrepreneurs, which was a five workshop certification program entertaining a basic aspect of entrepreneurial study, followed by a B-Plan competition. Apart from participating and often winning at various b-plan events, they also initiated 5 start-ups. The society has been currently gun blazing over Delhi Government‚Äôs grant of 1.5 crores to set up an incubation centre.

‚ÄúIt’s enthralling to be a part of the organisation. To share the space with some of the most recognised investment funds and executives like Nikesh Arora from SoftBank, to spending endless hours listening to entrepreneurs, young and old, struggling to keep their venture afloat, it’s nothing short of a spiritual experience‚Äù, said Hargurpal Singh, former Co-president and current Advisory Committee member of E-Cell SSCBS.

  1. Entrepreneurship Development Cell, SRCC

The society’s Annual Entrepreneurship Summit is a success and is garnered by eminent personalities each year. Also, the internship fair hosted by EDC has been instrumental in providing internships to 400+ students. The society President expressed extreme jubilation for heading the society and called it “the best part” of her college life.

  1. The Entrepreneurial Cell, Hansraj College

This society was founded in 2015 by a group of students with the support of the administration to promote entrepreneurship. Since its inception, they have organised a Summit, annual fest and many workshops. The Entrepreneurial summit, ILLUMINATE saw a participation of more than 500 students and 11 speakers. The annual fest, PROFECTUS saw many interesting competitions which tested the entrepreneurial skills of participants. Apart from this, workshops on Mock Stocks and a Seminar on Basics of Entrepreneurship were also organised.

“I have been through many highs and lows while running the society, but co-founding Entrepreneurial Cell has been a great experience for me. I have learnt a lot of things, met a lot of new people and have really grown as a person. I am really looking forward to another great year in the society” said Vishal Jogani, co-founder and co-president of entrepreneurial cell.

    5.The Entrepreneurship Cell, Miranda House

The E-Cell of Miranda House hosts its annual business fest CROESUS each year, testing the mettle of entrepreneurs pan India. Last year, it organised various competitions like best manager, case study, ad-mart etc. which saw a very active participation by students across DU. The society also hosted a seminar discussing ‘Problems faced by Women Entrepreneurs’ followed by a book launch by the author discussing the same.
