Having the lowest sex ratio in the state, Baghpat is the name of the village,Tanu Tomar – the UP board topper comes from, daughter of a sugarcane farmer.

Tanu scored 99 in biology, 98 in Hindi, Physics and chemistry, and 96 in English. She topped the state of Uttar Pradesh by securing 97.8 percent marks. She did her schooling from Shri Ram Shiksha Mandir Inter College.

According to her mother, she neither uses a cell phone nor is active on any social media platform.

Tanu’s classmate Yuvraj is also one of the toppers in state. Scoring 94.6% he has secured the 4th position in Uttar Pradesh.

This is a historic moment for our school and Tanu. Since we have two students of our schhol in the top 10 list in the state it is indeed an ecstatic moment for all of us. We have always focused on extra classes during the summer vacations so that students don’t have any doubts left and we can see the results today.” Rajiv Tomar, Principal of the school was quoted as saying.
