Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications from women candidates for the National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) Examination (II), 2021. Following the Supreme Court order, the womenfolk of India will be appearing for NDA’21/NA’21. Interested women candidates can apply at the official website of UPSC.
REGISTRATION PROCESS | WOMENFOLK WILL BE APPEARING FOR NDA’21/NA’21
NDA II has two registration processes – Part I and Part II, and they need to be filled in order. The corrigendum to the Notice No. 10/2021-NDA-II clearly states:
“If a candidate, of any gender other than female, applies then the candidate will be liable to penal action in terms of Rule 7 of the Rules for this Examination including debarment for 10 years from appearing at all future Examinations/Recruitments of the UPSC”.
The educational qualification of the candidate has to be 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent 6 examinations conducted by a State Education Board or a University for NDA examination. However, for the NA examination, a 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University is the requirement.
The application form demands personal details, photo ID proof as well as the selection of the center for the examination. Moreover, the payment portal can have seamless accessibility by the candidate.
The application process has begun. And the deadline to apply stands at 1800hrs on October 8, 2021.
A CAST IN CONCRETE FOR FEMALES? | WOMENFOLK WILL BE APPEARING FOR NDA’21/NA’21
With this move, we can say that everything is turning up roses for females so far. However, the very fact that women officers have a short-service commission in the armed forces has come under great scrutiny after NDA II. As of now, only 10 branches in the Indian Army provide a permanent commission to the women officers. We are still very distant from our dreamland.
