5 Best Indian Short Films to watch

Increasing use of Internet has lead to the evolution of movies that are made with the fraction of budget and in less of that time compared to the big-cinema movies. Short movies provide the amateur filmmakers and actors to showcase their talent and skills before having their big-break.

However there are some short films that had broke the stereotypes and have created a bench-mark for others to follow.

Here is the list of short films that we found were exceptionally brillant :-

A. Ketali

It is based on child labour which is a burning issue in India. In this movie we tried to show the difference between an educated child and an uneducated child. A boy who works at tea stall with his father. He goes to school but not to study, to serve tea. On the other hand a boy who is from good family. He goes to school but always gets late. There is one situation in the film where they both children have to face each other then you get to know what happen in the end of the film.

B. The Dinner

This short movie by Neeraj Udhwani deals with the current status of relationships and deals with redefining the concept of marriage. It enforces the thought of giving a second thought  before heading into anything and questioning what you actually want in your relationships for making it work !

C. Positive by Farhan Akhtar

Positive(2007) is a 17-minutes short Hindi film directed by Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The film has popular bollywood actors Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani in the lead roles.

The story revolves around a boy who moves to Cape Town during his college days to stay away from his home’s disturbances caused due to his father’s extramarital affairs. Later he discovers that his father was suffering from AIDS.

D. Chutney by Large Short Films 

Another fabulous performance by Tisca Chopra.  This short film establishes connection with the audience in just about 10 minutes that proves that you dont need 2- Hr long movie to establish connection with the viewer. Tisca holds the attention all through the film evenby her subtle on-screen apperance and impeccable expressions.

E. Khamakha By Aarti  Bagde 

A suave guy finds himself in a state transport bus when his car breaks down. In a bus full of villagers his attention is drawn to a striking girl. As he tries to make a conversation , the differences become evident. Will they be able to see each other beyond the obvious? Since it takes all kinds to make a bus journey worth the trip.  Khamakha has also won Filmfare’s people’s choice best short fim award.
