The annual fest of Finance and Investment Cell of Daulat Ram College-Excogitatia held on 3rd November,2017 proved to be a great success. The fest commenced with the inaugural session at 10 a.m. in the conference hall. The session was graced with the presence of eminent chief guests Mr. Balaji Geradi, senior branch manager at LIC of INDIA and Mr. Sachin Kheria, senior manager at Kotak Securities.
The event started with the lightening of lamp by the honourable guests. The guest speakers then enlightened the audience through a discussion about how one can secure their future through investment schemes. The speakers made the students familiar about various career opportunities in securities market. The gathering was then addressed by the principal Dr. Savita Roy, with her motivating and kind words. She invested the newly appointed cabinet with badges and wished them luck.
The session ended with a Thank you note by the Vice-President and the President of the Cell.
FLAGSHIP EVENTS:
1. PAPER PRESENTATION
The event was conducted in two stages. Initially around 25 teams filled forms for participating in the event. In round 1, the teams were required to present their papers and mail them on any of the following topics: Portfolio Management, Changes in the taxation system, Micro- finance institutions and Green accounting. 8 teams were then selected and were required to present their papers to a panel of judges. The event witnessed phenomenal presentation of ideas and thoughts, and rounds of interjection. The expert panel for the competition constituted of our esteemed teachers- Ms. Shikha Singh, Ms. Roopshikha and Ms. Richa Kaur.
 2. TRADING FREAK
The event was designed to test the negotiation and bidding skills of the participants. The event was a simulation of the barter system prevalent in earlier times. The participants were initially divided in teams of 2, if not already. The game was conducted in two trading sessions where competing teams were seen bidding for pack of gems, bargaining for getting the desired gemsfromother teams and running for getting thetransactions recorded. It looked like an actual barter system. The disheartened teams unable to make much combinations then tried their luck at the casino. Lucky enough teams got the desired gems by putting a certain set of gems to gamble.
3. MOCKTION
The next event in line for the day was Mocktion with participation of more than 70 teams, consisting of 2-4 participants in each team. A preliminarywas conducted to judge the knowledge of the participants about IPL and International cricket through a set of MCQs. A tie breaker was then used to select the best 10 Teams. The next stage involved bidding for players. The participants were required to form a team of 12 players. The goal was to interpret the news and rumours, and invest their money in the players accordingly.The teams which took the risk, bid for the best and analysed the game well clinched the top 3 positions and were awarded with the certificates and cash prizes.
4. BIZZINGO
Tambola was organised with a little twist in this fun event. The participants were given ticketswith logos and symbols related to finance and investment, instead of the usual numbers from 1 through 90. The aim was to identify the clues and mark the symbols in their tickets. Anyone who marked the wrong symbol and made a false claim to win was disqualified. The winners were awarded cash prizes for full house, first, second, and third line respectively.
 5. CHASE THE TRACE
The event was a hunt for the treasure but with a little twist. Different companies were set up in the campus and participants had to identify them with logos, news, taglines of those companies as hints. The event witnessed a good gathering full of enthusiasm.Many participated but only a few managed to complete the chase.
