The phrase has been proved true by the students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREI).
80 out of 94 students who belonged to marginalized communities and had applied for admissions into colleges like SRCC, Hansraj College, Hindu College, Ramjas College and Lady Shri Ram College etc of Delhi University got admission under the first cutoff which was released on 19th June.
Interestingly,most of the students got their seats secured under General Quota after scoring 94% and above.¬â€
This year showed an increase in the students opting for Delhi University from TSWREI because only 12 students could make it to the cutoffs as compared to this year. These students come from a financially weak background which is why some of them have been out of the state for the very first time.
The remaining 14 students who could not make it to the first cutoff are eagerly waiting for the second cutoff with their fingers crossed. The students have chosen courses like Philosophy, Political Science and Chemistry.
Bharat Kunapuli from Nalgonda district is the top scorer with 98.4% and has secured a seat at Hindu College for Chemistry(Hons). While Swati Vankudoth with 98% got Botany(Hons) at Miranda House.The parents of most of the students are either workers or engaged in small odd jobs.
It was seeming difficult to take the students to Delhi for admissions and provide for their accommodation due to a fund crunch which was soon recovered by the intervention of the government,TSWREIS members said.
