The change in rules making inclusion of Mathematics in best four if an applicant is applying for BA (Hons) Economics isn’t being followed by St. Stephens College and Jesus and Mary College who will continue to have the earlier eligibility criteria in place.

“Students have to study math in class XII and there will be a rider on that. When the interview is conducted, the department will decide what the rider will be, but math doesn’t necessarily have to be included in best four subjects, as is the case in other DU colleges. We have decided to continue with the old policy. We had put out our prospectus before DU announced this change. We are a minority institution and we have the constitutional right to conduct our own admission process.” C B Jha of St. Stephens College told Indian Express.

As per the old guidelines, applicants only had to pass in Class XII mathematics for applying to BA (Hons) Economics.

JMC’s admission criteria says that the student must have scored 80% in mathematics in Class XII but not necessarily it is to be included in the best four while applying to BA (Hons) Economics.
