The coronavirus that originated in Wuhan has already spread its wings across the entire world with the worst affected areas being China, Hong Kong, Italy, and Singapore. Recently the number of coronavirus cases has crossed 100 in India with two deaths each from Karnataka and Delhi.
While a 76-year-old man died after returning from Saudi Arabia on Thursday, another death of a 56-year-old woman was recorded late night on Friday in Delhi. The woman has been thought to be infected by her son who traveled across New Zealand and Italy. The similarity between the two cases was that the 76-year-old man and the woman’s son showed no symptoms at the airport on their return. To tackle the spreading virus all states have started taking drastic precautions.
Karnataka has banned all gatherings including sports, events, marriages, parties etc. The supreme court has given strict instructions to allow only a restricted number of people into the courtrooms.
According to the Home Ministry Additional Secretary Anil Malik it’s been discussed whether the Kartarpur Corridor should be closed or not.
It’s still under consideration whether the nation would be able to handle an outbreak due to our poor healthcare facilities. BBC’s Soutik Biswas has even claimed that Indian citizens couldn’t be quarantined in a large number if the need arises.
Moreover, all travelers are advised to check the precautions list as detailed by the government.
