Union Minister Satyapal Singh claimed that the theory of evolution put forth by naturalist Charles Robert Darwin was “scientifically wrong” and it should be changed in school and college curriculum. This statement was made by him at All India Vaidik Sammelan held in Central Maharashtra.
Darwin’s theory of evolution is the widely held notion that all life is related and has descended from a common ancestor: the birds and the bananas, the fishes and the flowers are all related, to this the Minister for State for Human Resource Development said; Our ancestors have nowhere mentioned either in written or oral that they saw an ape turning into a man. Ever since humans came to earth, they have always been humans. There is also no such mention in the tales told to us by our grandparents and the books we have read untill today . About 35 years ago in foreign countries our scientist have already said that there is no truth in this.
This is not the first time Singh has courted controversy, he has done this earlier as well. When reached for a reaction Singh stood by his comment and said “I have done PhD in chemistry from Delhi University, I stand by my comment on Darwin’s theory of evolution and also many western scientists of several developed countries have found loopholes in this theory. Standing firm with his comment he further added that in many countries the theory is not being taught anymore and there is a lot of literature available on the internet that support my comment.”
