IT’s amusing to hear that Delhi University’s admission helpline even get such queries from students across the country. A Bollywood lover asked that if he could get admission in the college where Shahrukh Khan studied. Another one asked if she could get the cut off list on whats app.
There are a lot more queries asked by the curious minds at DU’s admission helpline number 011-27006900. The helpline number is being managed by the University Information Centre (UIC) and it receives around 6000 calls per day from various applicants, said UIC officials as quoted by Hindustan Times. The helpline remains active from 9am to 5pm and 12 people are appointed to attend the calls and assist applicants and their parents with the admission process.
UIC hire interns to answer the calls and they have been trained in advance to help the applicants with their queries and complaints. A stipend of Rs 290 per day is paid to them for their work. One of the interns working with them said that she attends around 500 calls everyday. Students usually ask about the cut offs and postgraduate forms, some questions regarding the calculation of best four. But there are some who asks weird questions too she added.
The admission helpline will be active till 31st July and the applicant can also mail their queries at du.ug.help.2017@gmail.com . For payment related queries two numbers i.e. 7982991983 and 8967657510 have been provided, an official from UIC said.
