Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday released the date sheet for the upcoming board examinations to be held in May 2021. The exams are scheduled to take place from May 4 to June 10 in offline mode.
The CBSE Class 10, Class 12 practical exams are set to begin on March 1, 2021. The CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exam results are expected to be released by July 15, 2021.
Due to the pandemic, CBSE has already reduced the syllabus by 30%. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the datasheet through a video message and wished students good luck for the exams.

Date Sheet Nearly 3 Months Before The Examination
CBSE in an official notice said that the date sheet has been released “nearly three months before so that students can make their study plan and overcome the problems faced during the pandemic.” It claims to have given “sufficient time” between exams of main subjects in both classes 10 and 12. The class 12th exams will be held in two shifts to reduce the number of days of conducting exams. In the second shift exams of subjects which are not offered by students of schools situated abroad will be conducted.
Number Of Days Reduced
In class 10th, exams for 75 subjects and in class 12 exam of 111 subjects will be conducted. In 2020, the exam schedule was of 45 days, however, in 2021 exam schedule is of 39 days. Accordingly, six days less is taken to conduct the exams in 2021. However, the board claims to have given “sufficient” time between exams of two main subjects to help students prepare.
Papers To Be Conducted In A Way To Avoid Crowding
The CBSE board exam date sheet has been prepared in a manner that on any day, the total number of students in an examination centre is limited. This will help the examination centres to strictly follow the Covid-19 safety guidelines.
More Application Based Questions
“There will be more case-study based questions wherein a paragraph will be given to students and they will have to answer questions after reading the paragraph. This will assess students on their reading, understanding, interpretation, and answer writing abilities and move away from the rot learning,” said Joseph Emmanuel, director, academics at CBSE.
