Today, charge sheet against ten people including Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya has been filed by Delhi Police for allegedly raising “anti -national slogans” at an event which happened in Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2016 to protest against the hanging of terrorist Afzal Guru who was involved in 2001 Parliament attack.
Kanhaiya Kumar, the ex President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union rubbished the charges by calling them politically motivated, questioning the timing of this action which is closer to the 2019 general elections.
“If the news is true that a chargesheet has been filed, I would like to thank police and Modi Ji. The filing of chargesheet after 3 years, ahead of elections clearly shows it to be politically motivated. I trust the judiciary of my country.” Kumar told ANI.
Apart from them,36 others, including Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D Raja’s daughter Aprajita, Shehla Rashid (ex Vice-president of the JNUSU), Rama Naga, Ashutosh Kumar and Banojyotsna Lahiri have also been named in the charge sheet.
